UPDATE: An early-morning tractor-trailer crash kept a notorious stretch of highway at the New Jersey/New York border closed well into the afternoon on Tuesday. The driver told police that his load of frozen food shifted and the rig tipped on the flyover where Routes 17 and 287 meet in Mahwah around 7:30 a.m. He was uninjured. A video showing a Lakewood resident refusing to accept medical care because the volunteer first responders from Lakewood EMS were Jewish, Yeshiva World News reports. "She don't want to talk to you guys," the woman's husband is heard telling the EMTs. "No judio." "If she doesn't feel well you have to get medical help," an EMT can be heard saying. Paramedics were then called to help the women, but they also were Jewish, the outlet said. SUV Hits Parked Car, Slams Into Utility Pole In Glen Rock
An SUV hit an occupied parked car before slamming head-on into a utility pole Monday in Glen Rock. Neither the Honda Pilot nor the driver who was making a cellphone call in a sedan parked in the 500 block of Harristown Road was injured in the afternoon crash, responders said. A flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked SUV, while the sedan was driven from the scene. Borough police responded. The SUV hit a parked car and then the pole on Harristown Road in Glen Rock.Boyd A. : Authorities Charge South Hackensack Driver Who Crashed Through Bergen Jail Entrance
UPDATE: Authorities filed charges against a South Hackensack driver who crashed a sedan through the employee entrance of the Bergen County Jail on Friday. Troy H. McDonald, 51, remained in police custody overnight at New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus (formerly Bergen Regional) with injuries that Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton said weren't life-threatening. Authorities charged him with causing widespread damage, burglary and criminal mischief "based on statements that were made," Cureton told Daily Voice. A 75-year-old Bergen County employee who had a heart attack behind the wheel of a county vehicle Thursday afternoon at Darlington County Park in Mahwah was later revived at the hospital, authorities said. The New Milford man was driving a pickup truck that "went off the path and into some brush" on a road along the golf course just after 3 p.m., township police Capt. Stuart Blank said. No one was injured when a compact car driven by a 77-year-old Fair Lawn man careened out of control in the busy Wyckoff YMCA parking lot Monday -- on a busy first day of summer camp, authorities said.
