Multiple motor vehicle crashes early Monday, Nov. 11, created traffic delays for drivers along Route 17 in Bergen County. According to incident reporter Boyd A. Loving, a series of crashes on both the northbound and southbound lanes led to backups and lane closures, as emergency crews worked to clear the roadway. On the northbound side, several collisions occurred just north of East Prospect Street. SUV Mows Down Mailbox, Crashes Into Waldwick Home
One woman was hospitalized with what may be a broken arm and another with neck pain after an SUV collided with a sedan, bowled over a mailbox and smacked into the front of a Waldwick home. Ambulance crews from Waldwick and Allendale joined police at the scene on East Prospect Street right off southbound Route 17 shortly before noon. Both the Nissan Pathfinder that hit the house and the severely damaged Hyundai Elantra had to be towed. Jeep Topples Traffic Light In Waldwick
A 17-year-old driver escaped injury when her Jeep knocked down a traffic light and damaged a junction box in Waldwick, authorities said. The borough driver's vehicle came to rest in a wooded area off the corner of Sheridan Avenue and East Prospect Street at 9:50 p.m. Sunday, March 6, Police Chief Mark F. Messner said. Waldwick firefighters tended to a smoke condition in the engine, the DPW blocked off the area and the state Department of Transportation was notified, the chief said. Firefighters Free Driver After Sedan Slams Into Tree Entering Route 17
Waldwick firefighters freed a driver from Garfield whose car slammed into a tree as he pulled onto Route 17. The 23-year-old driver "appears to have over-compensated" while turning the steering wheel of his 2003 Honda Accord coming off East Prospect Street beneath the pedestrian overpass on the highway's northbound side, Lt. Thomas J. Dowling said. Authorities: Driver Blows Stop Sign, Hits Waldwick Public Works Truck
A Waldwick driver whose vehicle collided with a borough DPW truck early Friday admitted that she blew a stop sign, authorities said. The 58-year-old driver was headed south on Ridge Street when her vehicle collided with the truck at the intersection of East Prospect Street shortly before 8 a.m., Police Chief Mark Messner said. She was taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood after complaining of back pain, the chief said. The truck driver was OK, he said.

Waldwick Police Revive OD'd Van Driver At Intersection
A trio of Waldwick police officers revived a heroin-carrying driver who passed out from an overdose behind the wheel of a van stopped at an intersection, authorities said Saturday. Sgt. David Passaretti and Officers Dylan Ritondale and Michael Sinclair began CPR after finding the 30-year-old driver on the ground next to the van, which was stopped at Sheridan Avenue and East Prospect Street, just before 2 p.m. Friday, Lt.
