Woman, 25, Struck, Killed By Freight Train In Bergenfield
A 25-year-old woman was struck and killed overnight Tuesday by a freight train in Bergenfield. Authorities suspect suicide, Bergenfield Police Lt. William Duran said. The woman was struck by a northbound CSX train headed to New York State around 12:10 a.m. just south of the New Bridge Road crossing. The locomotive stopped 300 feet before the Clinton Avenue crossing. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Bergenfield police responded along with CSX railroad police and representatives and the Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification, which collected evidence.

Police: Dumont Man Struck, Killed By Freight Train In Bergenfield Suicide
UPDATE: A freight train struck and killed a Dumont man in Bergenfield Tuesday in what police said was a suicide. The 55-year-old kneeled down on the tracks near Church Street as the CSX train approached around 1:40 p.m., Capt. Mustafa Rabboh said. The man "parked his vehicle a short distance away, waited for the train, then kneeled on the tracks as the train approached," Rabboh said. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification was summoned to collect evidence. Main Street was closed. Traffic was re-routed to Columbia Avenue…

The second “Food and Fright Festival,” hosted by the Go Bergenfield District Alliance, will kick off on Friday, October 26 with the first day of the Food Crawl and run through Sunday, November 4.
