Details have emerged in the Pequannock crash that claimed the life of a beloved single mom and injured a cyclist. Jill Altman Russo, 55, was walking near 229 Boulevard when she was struck by a black 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage driven by a 35-year-old woman around 8:20 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, Pequannock Township Police said. Russo was rushed to Chilton Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. A second victim riding a bicycle was also hit and hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Reckless Driver Drank 'Catnip Cocktail,' Wayne Police Say
WAYNE, N.J. -- A driver was under the influence of a "catnip cocktail" when he suddenly jerked his car across several lanes of Route 23, said police who arrested him. Sgt. James Clark saw the driver of the 2018 Toyota Camry make the "extremely dangerous maneuver" off the southbound highway and then speed recklessly up Packanack Lake Road past his patrol car just before 11 p.m. Saturday, Detective Capt. Nine Wayne Responders Decontaminated After Exposure To Hazardous Chemical
WAYNE, N.J. -- Six Wayne firefighters, two EMTs, a police officer and a factory employee were hospitalized before dawn Sunday after they were exposed to a chemical used to make Teflon. Police Officer Corey Deak was among the responders to the 5:40 a.m. smoke-condition call at Saint Gobain Performance Plastics Corporation on Dey Road, Detective Capt. Lawrence Martin said.
