Resident Relocated After Partial Hasbrouck Heights House Collapse
A Hasbrouck Heights woman had to be relocated after the portico of her home collapsed Monday afternoon, authorities said. The resident wasn't injured in the mishap, they said. A building official summoned the town engineer to determine the structural integrity of the home. A PSEG crew temporarily turned off the utilities. UPDATE: A smoky two-alarm fire ravaged a Fair Lawn home on Tuesday. One Essex County district has opted to let its teachers work from home while students are scheduled to continue hybrid learning. Hackensack firefighters doused a blaze Thursday in a building that houses the Bergen County Democratic Committee headquarters. Englewood Girl, 8, Hospitalized As Precaution After Ceiling Plaster Falls In Home
A chunk of plaster that fell from a living-room ceiling Friday afternoon sent an 8-year-old Englewood girl to the hospital as a precaution, authorities said. The Waldo Place girl sustained a leg injury with no fractures after the falling 2-by-2-foot piece hit her just before 2:30 p.m., Deputy Police Chief Gregory Halstead said.
