'Most Visible Eclipse For US In 100 Years' Coming Soon
In just over a month, what's being called the astronomy event of the decade will occur when a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. A total solar eclipse happens when the moon passes between the sun and earth, completely blocking the face of the sun and the sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk. Many are planning road trips to places where the best viewing conditions are expected for what Space.com says will be "the longest and most visible for the US in 100 years," with a four-minute duration expected beginning…

Upstate NY Man Admits Assaulting Female Passenger On Flight To Newark
A New York State man admitted assaulting a female passenger on a flight to Newark Airport, federal authorities in New Jersey said. Ryan Manuella, 30, "moved to a vacant seat next to a female passenger and touched the passenger without her consent" on a flight from Denver on April 16, 2021, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said. Manuella -- of the Erie County town of Cheektowaga, just northeast of Buffalo -- didn't know the woman, according to a complaint on file in U.S. District Court in Newark. The victim then yelled at him and left the row of seats, Sellinger said. Manuella took a deal…

Details Emerge Around Widow Of NJ ‘Animal Whisperer’ Who Continued Vet Practice Without License
The widow of a revered North Jersey veterinarian known as the “animal whisperer” had help from two alleged co-conspirators from New York in continuing to operate her husband’s clinic without a license, it was recently revealed. Alia Muslih, 41, of Montclair originally was accused of posing as a veterinarian following her husband’s death in order to keep the Totowa Animal Hospital open. A massive 77-count grand jury indictment returned earlier this month in Paterson lays out additional details. Included are allegations that Muslih had help from Marco A. Gamarra, 64, of the Bronx and Yaser I…

PA's Damar Hamlin Of Buffalo Bills Collapses, Monday Night Football Game Postponed
Defensive back Damar Hamlin, a Pittsburgh College graduate and McKees Rocks native out of Pennsylvania, suffered a terrifying injury that postponed a Monday Night Football game between his Buffalo Bills and the hometown Cincinnati Bengals. Roughly six minutes remained in the first quarter when Hamlin, 24, made an open-field tackle on Bengals wideout Tee Higgins, who'd caught a pass while headed across the middle of the field. Higgins's helmet appeared to hit Hamlin square in the upper chest area. Hamlin got up -- and seconds later fell onto his back without moving again. Replays were broa…

Here's When Region Could See Some Snow As Arctic Air Moves In From Canada
As a potentially historic, extreme storm has already dumped around 2 feet of snowfall in the Buffalo area, with more to come, residents in this region may see a round of light snow before a winter-like blast of Arctic air. Friday, Nov. 18 will be mostly sunny, breezy, and brisk with a high temperature in the mid 40s, according to the National Weather Service. After nightfall, there will be a chance for snow showers, mainly between around 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Friday. That will come as a cold air mass from Canada moves in with wind-chill values falling between 20 and 25 degrees overnight.…

'I Am The Attacker': Arrest Made In Threat That Shook Synagogues Across NJ
Recent broad threats against synagogues and Jewish people in New Jersey earlier this month ended with the arrest of a teenager from the state, federal authorities announced on Thursday, Nov. 10. A manifesto posted by Omar Alkattoul, 18, of Sayreville in a forum frequented by extremists frightened the public, brought security to Jewish houses of worship and got the FBI involved last week. The concern stemmed from a contention in the Nov. 1 post that an attack had already occurred -- which active shooters have done in certain instances across the U.S. just before carrying out their fatal…

Lakewood, Toms River, Jersey City and Brooklyn, NY, are among the Jewish communities that Buffalo's accused mass shooter considers "deplorable'' in a 180-page manifesto, according to multiple news reports. Payton Gendron, 18, was arraigned Saturday on first-degree murder charges and ordered detained without bail on accusations he carefully planned the massacre at a Buffalo supermarket that left ten people dead. Eleven of the 13 people he shot were black, reports say. Gendron had penned a 180-page manifesto that named Lakewood and Toms River among the communities that the alleged shooter con…

Cosby Among Celebs Denied Prison Release For Coronavirus, Others More Fortunate
COVID-19 concerns may have freed some lesser-known convicts but not Bill Cosby, Bernie Madoff or R. Kelly. Lawyers for Cosby appeared to have some help earlier this month when Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf allowed a temporary reprieve for an estimated 1,500 to 1,800 vulnerable and nonviolent prisoners at or close to their release dates. The only trouble was: Sex offenders in the Keystone State aren’t eligible for reprieves, a corrections spokesperson said. That rules out Cosby, 82, who’s serving a three- to 10-year sentence in a state prison outside Philadelphia for drugging and sexually assa…

The bishop of the Roman Catholic diocese of Brooklyn has been accused of molesting an altar boy while he served as a priest in Jersey City four decades ago.
