The Cuban Around The Corner lives up to its name: offering authentic Cuban cuisine made by real Cubans.The new restaurant recently opened in Bergen County. Manny Fernandez and Audrey Pacheco, who have been married for 20 years, originally opened a takeout restaurant in Bogota, but patrons requested a spot with more space, and they settled on a location in Bergenfield at 260 S Washington Ave. At The Cuban Around The Corner, Pacheco handles the front, while Fernandez is in the back making his famous Real Deal Cuban sandwiches. Ecuadorian National Pleads Guilty To Brutal Stabbing Death Of Popular Bergen County Chef
A Jersey City man who brutally stabbed a well-known chef to death during a party at the victim’s Little Ferry home cut a deal with prosecutors, pleading guilty to aggravated manslaughter in exchange for a lesser sentence. Ray Edwardo Arcentales Sanchez, 24, could still get a minimum sentence of 10 years in state prison for the plea, entered in Superior Court in Hackensack earlier this week. UPDATE: Federal authorities have placed an immigration detainer on a 22-year-old Jersey City man accused of brutally stabbing a well-known chef to death during a party at the victim’s Little Ferry home. SUVs Collide In Bogota
Four adults refused medical attention after two SUVs collided Wednesday afternoon in Bogota. A Toyota RAV4 whose driver turned suddenly off River Road onto West Main Street was struck by a Kia Sportage headed in the opposite direction around 1 p.m., responders said. The four occupants were treated by a Holy Name Medical Center Ambulance crew for airbag scrapes. The vehicles had to be towed.

Prosecutor: Bean Counter Embezzled $1.1M From Bergen Firm With 'Ghost' Workers, Other Tricks
A bookkeeper from Hasbrouck Heights embezzled $1.1 million from a Bogota-based carpentry company by creating “ghost employees,” among other methods, authorities charged. Maribel Rios, 51 – also known as Maribel Roche – “engaged in various schemes” to “manipulate the company payroll system” over a three-year period, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said Thursday. Garden State Roller Girl Suzie 'Sue-Nami' Lim Dies, 32
Susan Lim died at her home in Bogota on Feb. 25. She was 32 years old. Susan -- affectionately known as Suzie -- had a zest for adventure and roller skating, her obituary says. She joined Garden State Rollergirls team in 2019, and was known to the team as "Sue-Nami." In addition to skating, Suzi loved swimming in the ocean, traveling, cooking and fostering kittens, her obituary says. Services were held at the Becker Funeral Home March 3, and cremation was private. Suzi is survived by her significant other , Philip Larochelle; her mom Hyeran Vukas; and her brother Michael Vukas.…

Bogota Bicyclist, 58, Killed In Route 3 Crash
A bicyclist was struck and killed in the middle lane of eastbound Route 3 in East Rutherford late Saturday, responders said. Tony Perez, 58, of Bogota was pronounced dead after he was struck by a vehicle shortly after 11:30 p.m., Deputy Police Chief Phillip Taormina said. "In an attempt to avoid striking Mr. Perez, the operator of the vehicle applied the brakes, swerved and was struck from behind by a second passing vehicle," Taormina said.
