Delta Plane's Wing Hits Runway During Landing At LaGuardia Airport A possible calamity was avoided after a Delta plane's wing hit the runway as it was coming in for a landing.  The incident happened just after 10 p.m. Sunday, March 16 at LaGuardia Airport in Queens. The plane's left wing struck the runway during the landing before the pilots executed a go-around, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In a go-around, a pilot, during the final approach to land, decides against continuing the landing and instead initiates a climb, aborting the landing attempt. No injuries were reported.
