Baez, who has been with Bergenfield schools for more than 14 years, was named the Bergenfield High School Teacher of the Year for 2014-15.

The criterion for the award included exceptional educational talent and effective instructional practices that help student learning in the classroom and school; exemplary educational accomplishments beyond the classroom that provide models of excellence for the profession; contributions to education that are largely unheralded, yet worthy of the spotlight; and engaging and inspiring presence that motivates and impacts students, colleagues and the community.
