The winning project, proposed by the high school's Green Team, focuses on the recycling of food waste for the purpose of composting. The produced compost will then be used to fertilize the grounds of the school.
Students enrolled in the Green Technology classes will oversee the project on a daily basis.
Bergenfield High School Principal Jim Fasano and Interim Superintendent Christopher Tully accepted the check on behalf of the Board of Eduction.
