The 20-something woman seemed to talk with someone on her cellphone as she entered La Placita Bakery and Cafe on Washington Avenue at 3:20 p.m. yesterday.

She was carrying a big black jacket.

“She asked what food there was but didn’t order anything,” the bake shop’s Morocha Mimada told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “When she saw the ladies that work here move away from counter, she very calmly grabbed (the jar) and put it under the jacket and walked out like nothing.

“No one could believe their eyes.”

The woman in the video was described as in her early 20s, with short, straight black hair. She was wearing all black, with a bluish green undershirt and carrying a large black duffel bag along with the jacket.

“By the looks of it, she had to have done this before, as she very easily does this,” Mimada said. “Hopefully they can catch her before she does this again somewhere else.

“The women here work very hard for their money,” she added. “It’s sad to see what some young people are willing to do, risking to go to jail for a couple hundred dollars.”

IF YOU KNOW or RECOGNIZE the woman, please contact the Bergenfield PD: (201) 387-4000
