The trio entered Sweets of Yesterday (Old Tyme Candy Store), a popular local mom-and-pop shop, around 6:50 p.m. Tuesday.
“One of them hit the proprietor in the back of the head and the three took off,” a source with direct knowledge of the incident told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
Police canvassed the area while the Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino’s Bureau of Criminal Identification collected evidence.
The owner reportedly declined medical attention.
Although officially unconfirmed, tonight’s holdup appears to be the work of the same crew that hit other businesses in town last week, a police source with knowledge of the crimes told CLIFFVIEW PILOT tonight.
