BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- Firefighters doused a smoky Bergenfield laundry blaze that apparently broke out in a dryer Monday afternoon.

The Cascade Laudromat, which faces Madison Avenue, was severely damaged and the adjacent Dynamic Automotive parts store on South Washington Avenue slightly damaged, responders said.

Bogota, Dumont, New Milford, Ridgefield Park and Tenafly firefighters were among those who provided mutual aid at the three-alarm blaze, which was doused by 5:15 p.m., less than an hour after it broke out.
