Non-documented Mexican charged in attempted New Milford sex assault

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A New Milford man is being held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with trying to force a woman into sex. The INS has also put a detainer on the native Mexican and will be taking custody of him.

The woman called police and, through a translator, told them she got into an argument with 25-year-old Daniel Hernandez-Garcia at a party Sunday night in New York City that continued later at his apartment in the Brookchester development.

She said she had to fight him off for about 25 minutes before finally summoning help, Police Chief Frank Papapietro said.

Hernandez-Garcia, who also needed a translator, is charged with attempted sexual assault, criminal restraint and simple assault.
