NJ Alert brings professional expertise of citizens to state emergencies

New Jersey public safety officials have found an added benefit to NJ Alert, the State’s mass text and email emergency notification system: It gives everyday citizens with professional expertise an opportunity to help police, firefighters and EMTs when there‘s an emergency.

“Our service is not limited to public security information, but was uniquely designed as a group communication system for anyone,” said the system’s creator, Robert Statica, PhD, Founder of United Alert, LLC, a volunteer group of professionals dedicated to improving emergency preparedness and communication. “Government, schools, corporations and even personal users can utilize the service for disaster recovery, family preparedness or any notification needs.”

The “Human Emergency Grid” is a bonus for NJ Alert — a free, voluntary and confidential service that allows state emergency management officials to send you an email or cellphone text message when we’re snowed under or if disaster strikes.

Getting the news sent directly to you from those on the front lines can go along way to helping keep you safe.

Our goal is to utilize latest technology to protect lives and property,” said Colonel Rick Fuentes Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police and Director of the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management. “NJ Alert will help direct public action in the event of a large-scale emergency, whether we are dealing with a hurricane or act of terrorism.”
