New Milford suicide, 55, leaves note, recording behind

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A 55-year-old New Milford man found dead in his apartment tonight of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound left a note and a recording behind, CLIFFVIEW PILOT has learned.

New Milford police were called to the Brookchester Apartments on Boulevard by neighbors complaining of the odor, Chief Frank Papapietro said tonight.

Officers Darrell Marshall, Brian Carlino and Richard Giacobone Jr. got a maintenance worker to open the door of the man’s apartment.

They then found the victim on the bed in “an advanced stage of decomposition,” the chief said.

The legally-owned, .357-caliber handgun was at his feet, he said.

The Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification collected evidence. The county Medical Examiner also responded.

“At this time the death does not appear to be suspicious,” Papapietro said at 9:30 tonight.
