Damian Ramirez, 48, was struck several times just before 1 a.m. Saturday, outside Manhattan Brew & Vine on Columbus Avenue at 109th Street, the NYPD confirmed.
He was later pronounced dead at Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital.
His killer remained at large, said the NYPD, which didn't speculate on a possible motive.
Ramirez, who grew up on the Upper West Side, had been married for 24 years to Myriam Rodriguez and had been an adviser to two boxers: Winky Wright and Muhammad Ali’s daughter, Laila.
He opened the bar two years ago with co-owners Vancho Tolomanos of Jersey City and Jayvon Smith of New York.
