Mader was born and raised in Fair Lawn.
He graduated from Eastern Christian High School in 1999 and attended Lincoln Technical Institute, Teterboro School of Aeronautics, Community College of the U.S. Air Force and American Military University.
Mader joined the U.S. Air Force in 2002 and was attached to the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command in Hurlburt Field, Fla. He was deployed from there to Iraq, in support of Iraqi Freedom.
The Fair Lawn Police Department hired Mader in 2009.
He jointed the Bergenfield force in 2010 and was assigned to the Patrol Division.
Last year, Mader moved to his current post in the Traffic Division.
He is an active shooter and Junior Police Academy instructor, as well as a liaison to the Bergenfield crossing guards and Police Auxiliary Unit. Mader also rides each year in the Police Unity Tour to the Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Mader has received several lifesaving awards and unit citations while with Bergenfield.
