In that incident, a man told police he had just left a party and was walking on Shaler Avenue when four men surrounded him around 5:45 a.m. and asked him for $20.

When he said he didn’t have it, they attacked him, took an undetermined amount of cash and his cellphone and took off, the man told police.

Detective Capt. Martin Kahn said he was treated for facial injuries.

He urged that area residents and business owners be wary and always remain vigilant. He also asked that anyone with information about the muggings call Fairview detectives: 201-943-3655.
