The officer was in his patrol cruiser on the Jones Road overpass by Route 4 when the crash occurred around 12:45 p.m.

Air bags in both vehicles deployed, Detective Capt. Timothy Torell told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The officer and the other driver, a woman, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, Torell said.

The 47-year-old New Milford woman struck by the tree branch at South Dean Street and East Forest Avenue had some facial injuries in the incident, the captain said.

An investigation by Englewood police and the Bergen County Police Department was continuing.

The name of the officer, as well as information about the other drivers, was expected to be released later this afternoon.
