Elmwood Park police catch New Milford man, 66, with crack, Lodi man trying to swallow heroin

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A 66-year-old New Milford man was carrying crack and a 22-year-old Lodi man tried to swallow several bags of heroin when they were stopped by police coming through town in separate incidents a little over four hours apart yesterday, authorities said.

James Thomas, 22, was charged with hindering after he tried swallowing several heroin folds after being stopped at 4:15 p.m. yesterday on Route 46 at Boulevard, Police Chief Michael Foligno said this afternoon.

Around 8:30 p.m., officer charged 66-year-old Richard Roemer with drug possession after finding him carrying three bags of crack on East 55th Street, the chief said.

Both men were released on court summonses.
