Driver, 17, gets summons for knocking down Bergenfield motorcycle police officer

FOLLOW-UP: A 17-year-old girl who was behind the wheel of a car that struck a Bergenfield motorcycle police officer before the borough’s annual Memorial Day parade yesterday was issued a summons for failing to yield, authorities said today.

Sgt. Daniel Brizek was struck around 12:50 p.m. at the intersection of South Washington and West Englewood avenues and taken to the hospital by Bergenfield Volunteer Ambulance Corp., Police Capt. Cathy Madalone said.

He was released after being treated for minor injuries, the captain said.

The teen driver refused medical aid, Madalone said.
