YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: An hour or so after UPS left a package at a Dumont doorstep, a car pulled up, a man got out and a drug bust was about to go down. No sooner had he scooped up the package than detectives scooped up him.
Michael J Hyler-Cohen, a 32-year-old self-employed contractor, was charged in connection with the 3½-pound package of marijuana.
A tipster told the Bergen County Narcotic Task Force that United Parcel Service would be delivering the package Tuesday to a Virginia Avenue address in Dumont, said Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli.
Task force investigators and Dumont police watched as the delivery arrived just before 10 a.m. Hyler-Cohen (left) pulled up in a green two-door Acura Legend about 45 minutes later, the prosecutor said.
The officers stopped him after he collected the package and tried to drive off, Molinelli said.
Hyler-Cohen was ordered held on $10,000 bail.
