Officer Nicolas Deleon stopped the 2004 BMW 525 on Jan. 10 on South Washington and Clinton avenues for having an expired Pennsylvania transporter plate, Capt. Mustafa Rabboh said Monday.

The plate was bogus and the vehicle was impounded, Rabboh said.

A computer check showing the vehicle unregistered and conflicting stories from the driver "did not sit well" with DeLeon, he said.

The next day, DeLeon determined that the Beamer was reported stolen out of New York in 2011.

He charged the driver, 47-year-old Wesley Jenkins of Bergenfield, with receiving stolen property, forgery and having a bogus motor vehicle identification card. Jenkins also received several summonses and was released. with a Feb. 3 Municipal Court date.
