Officers summoned by a neighbor who witnessed the 2 a.m. attack yesterday spoke with the parked car’s owner, who pointed them toward 40-year-old Edward Obertlik, Detective Lt. Frank Ramaci told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Surveillance video supplied by a local store owner showed Obertlik getting out of his car, smashing the windows, getting back in and driving off, Ramaci said.

The dark-colored, Toyota Corolla had a hubcap missing from a passenger side tire, they noted.

New Milford Detectives Kevin Van Saders and Nelson Perez went Obertlik’s house and found the car, Ramaci said.

They found Obertlik, brought him to headquarters and charged him with criminal mischief.
