BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- A self-employed Bergenfield handyman was being held on $400,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl.
Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said Bergenfield police and detectives from his Special Victims Unit arrested Martin Alonso Lopez, 47, at borough police headquarters on Sunday.
Lopez, who Molinelli said is married, is charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and child endangerment.
"The Bergenfield Police Department learned of what occurred between Lopez and the victim and notified the Special Victims Unit," the prosecutor said. "The ensuing investigation resulted in the arrest."
