Raja K. Jagtiani, a 54-year-old internist, remained free on $20,000 bail after he was released from the Bergen County Jail yesterday.

He was arrested hours earlier on charges of criminal sexual contact, assault and harassment, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

The investigation by Molinelli’s Special Victims Unit began after an employee told Bergenfield police that she “was touched on her breast and bit on the facial cheek” while working with Jagtiani, who is married, at his Ontario Street office in late July.

“During the course of the investigation, additional victims of sexual contact and harassment were identified and later interviewed,” Molinelli said.

“These victims, totaling four in number at this time, include current and former employees, as well as one patient,” he said.

An arraignment was scheduled for next Wednesday.
