DUMONT, N.J. -- Zola M. (Allen) Giovio -- a Toms River resident, formerly of Dumont -- died on Monday, May 2. She was 87.
Raised in Closter, Giovio lived most of her life in Dumont. She spent her later years with her daughter and son-in-law in the Lavallette-Toms River area of Ocean County.
"Zola will always be remembered as being a sweet, fun, exceedingly generous and kind person, and for her love of playing Bingo," information from the funeral home noted.
Giovio is survived by her children, Lynda Schmidt and her husband Donald, and Michael Giovio and his wife Mary; grandchildren Michael Schmidt and his wife Sara, Andrew Schmidt and his wife Donna, Lauren Schmidt, and Adam Lichter and his wife Christina; and great-grandchildren Alyssa, Alexa, Cameron, Aiden, Kai and Zane.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Giovio, and her parents, Laura (Mandel) and Eben Allen.
Visiting hours will be from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Ave., in Dumont. A mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Sacred Heart Church, in Haworth. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus.
