Yankees Legend Yogi Berra, Longtime New Jersey Resident, Dies At 90

MONTCLAIR, N.J. -- New York Yankees legend and longtime New Jersey resident Yogi Berra, regarded as one of the best catchers in baseball history, died Tuesday. He was 90.

Berra's death was announced separately by the Yankees and Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center in Little Falls, N.J. He was a longtime resident of Montclair, N.J.

Berra, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1972 was a three-time Most Valuable Player and a nationally recognized figure who transcended sports.

A colorful character, he was known for his charming humor, making such humorous "misstatements" as "When you get to a fork in the road, take it," and, when discussing the setting sun at left field in Yankee Stadium, "It gets late early out there."
