Virginia Jean Abate, 91, Of Dumont

BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- Virginia Jean (Benevento) Abate, a Dumont resident, died Saturday, Oct. 17. 

She was predeceased by her husband John Abate 

Abate is survived by her children, JoAnn Wicker and her husband Bill and Ralph Abate and his wife Tamera; grandchildren, Billy Wicker, Keith Wicker and his wife Amy, Allison Manna and her husband Tom, Sage Abate and Jake Abate; great-grandchildren Gianna, Gabriella, Jack, Alexa, and Harper; and many nieces snd nephews. 

She worked for many years as an administrative assistant at Cone Mills in New York CIty. She was active in the West New York Little League, The St. Joseph's Mother's Guild, The Italian American Club of Monroe Township and as a volunteer for the Special Olympics.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 3-8 p.m.Wednesday at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell. Funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Thursday from the funeral home to Annunciation RC Church, Paramus for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
