Shaun D. Murphy Sr., 54, Of Bergenfield

BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- Shaun D. Murphy Sr., 54, died Saturday, March 12 in Conway, S.C.

He was a longtime resident of Bergenfield, where he graduated from Bergenfield High School in 1980. 

Murphy, better known as "Murf," recently settled in Marion, S.C., where he quickly became a member of his community, embracing all Southern living had to offer. He was proud of his Irish heritage and his sobriety, spanning more than 15 years. He was a devoted Harley Davidson enthusiast, exemplifying his favorite quotes “ride it like you stole it” and “one day at a time.” 

He is survived by his three children, Melissa, Shannon and Shaun Jr.; the mother of his children, Cheri Murphy; his siblings Marie-Anne Murphy Leinhaas, and her husband Paul, and Michael Murphy, and his wife Myra; six nieces and nephews and countless family and friends throughout the United States and Ireland. 

He was predeceased by his father Michael Murphy Sr. and his brother, Gari Murphy. 

A memorial service will be conducted from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Boulevard Funeral Home, New Milford.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made directly to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
