Rose Marie Crisafi Henn Of Bergenfield

BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- Rose Marie Crisafi Henn, of Bergenfield, has died.

She was born in 1922 in New York City, the daughter of Bartolomeo and Mamie Crisafi and brother to Frank. 

She graduated from Hunter College of the City New York in 1943 and returned to Hunter for a master's degree in teachers education in 1952. She married Herbert G. Henn in 1950 and they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in July of this year. 

She was an elementary school teacher in the Bronx until 1954, when they moved to Bergenfield, where she continued to work as a substitute teacher. 

She was active in many local organizations, including the Girl Scouts and St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was elected to the Bergenfield Town Council in 1991 and served for 15 years. 

During her tenure, she was instrumental in the creation of the Bergenfield School Age Child Care Center and Summer Camp, and was a strong advocate for the town's recycling program, ecology committee and the restoration of Cooper's Pond. 

She is survived by her children, Roselle Henn Stern and Herbert William Henn, her son-in-law Eric Stern and her grandson Jacob Charles Stern. 

Visiting will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 S. Washington Ave., Bergenfield. There will be a funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. 

Interment will be at Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale N.Y.
