Born in the Bronx, Burns was a crossing guard with the Borough of Demarest. She enjoyed spending time at the beach with family and friends and going to concerts.
She is survived by her children, James and Belinda Burns; grandchildren Gabrielle, Dylan, Caitlyn and Nicholas; great-grandson Jayden; and siblings Thomas, Phillip, Michael, Loretta, Irene and Carol.
Burns was predeceased by her husband, James; son Brian; and parents Jean and Thomas Dunne.
Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Ave., in Dumont. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, and interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, in Tenafly.
