Marie E. McKenna, 88, Bergenfield Resident

BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- Marie E. McKenna, of Bergenfield, died on Jan. 20. She was 88.

"(McKenna's) family truly was her pride and joy," information from the funeral home noted. "Her home was filled with photographs of all those she loved, and she spent much of her time bragging about the accomplishments of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

"Even though she was quite the neatnik, she hosted parties and holidays, prepared elaborate meals, and all were always welcome in her home. She was an avid reader and shopper, and fierce debater of politics"

McKenna was also a dedicated parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church, where she taught CCD and served as a Eucharistic minister. She was also a member of the Rosary Society and the Golden Age Club.

She is survived by her children, John McKenna, Ellen Shave and Marie Harvey; stepdaughter Linda; brother Harry; grandchildren John, Brian, Michael, Matthew, Katherine, Christopher, Kathleen, John and Kevin; and eight great-grandchildren.

McKenna was predeceased by her husband, John McKenna; stepsons Jack and Blair; and brothers John, James and Joseph Price.
