Joseph P. Loughney, 78, Of Dumont

DUMONT, N.J. -- Joseph P. Loughney, of Dumont, died Monday, Nov. 28. He was 78.

Loughney was born in Pittston, Pa., to Margaret (nee Reilly) and John M. Loughney. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was employed as a dispatcher and bus driver for the New York City Transit Authority.

He was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen T. (nee Connors).

He is survived by his children; Bernard and his wife Debbie, Sean and his companion Marie and Erin Murphy and her husband Thomas; grandchildren, Kenneth Michael, Dawn, Kristin and her husband J. and Gregory and his wife Cheryl; and sister; Sister Margaret (Mary) Dolorosa Loughney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 280 Washington Ave., Dumont. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Ave., Dumont.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Dumont Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 108 Brook St., Dumont, NJ 07628.
