John T. Dillon, Jr., 79, Dumont Resident

DUMONT, N.J. – John T. Dillon, Jr., of Dumont, died Monday, March 28. He was 79.

He was born in New York City to John T. and Ethel Dillon and was employed as a group circulation director for 30 years at G & J Publishing in New York City. 

He was an Army veteran and a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1345, 4th Degree, past grand knight and district deputy.

He was the husband of the late Lillian (Cestero) Dillon; father of Theresa Riva and her husband, David, John T. Dillon III, Patricia Picard and her husband, Brian, and Lisa Sutera and her husband, Joseph; “Poppy” to Peter and Nicole Giannuzzi, Sylvia Riva, Dylan and Lily Picard, and Joseph, James and Thomas Sutera; brother of Mary Durkan, Veronica Dillon and Margaret Feitell, and the late Catherine Haropolous and Richard Dillon.

Visiting will take place on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Ave., Dumont. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Dumont. 

Interment with military honors will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Dumont Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 108 Brook St., Dumont.
