NEW MILFORD, N.J. -- John Joseph Keefe, of New Milford, died Tuesday, Aug. 2. He was 81.
He was born Feb. 10, 1935, in the Bronx. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was very involved in parish life and was an usher at St Mary’s Church for many years.
Keefe had the very special gift of making all who met him a better person for knowing him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Filomena “Phyllis/Fanny” (nee Baldino); sons, John and his wife Mary and Ralph and his wife Michelle; grandchildren, John, Taylor, Sarah and Gina; brother-in-law, Dominick; sister-in-law, Marian Baldino; and family and special friends, Rosemarie Preolo and family.
There will be a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church, 300 Elm St., Oradell. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Ave., Dumont.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
