Hans James Jr., 88, Dumont Resident

BERGENFIELD, N.J. — Dumont resident Hans James Jr. died Tuesday, April 26. He was 88.

James was a World War II veteran and owner and operator of Hartel Brass & Nickel in West New York for 50 years. He also was a parishioner of St. Mary's and served as usher for many years.

He is survived by wife Frances (Zunin); children James J. and wife Kathanne, Robert and wife June, Maryanne Miloscia and husband Lawrence; grandchildren Christine, J.R., Steve, Kathryn, Lauren, Elizabeth, Jennifer and Lawrence; and five great-grandchildren. 

He was predeceased by his brother and business partner, Mario.

There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 280 Washington Ave., Dumont. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. 

Visiting will take place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Frech Funeral Home, 161 Washington Ave., Dumont. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to St. Mary’s R.C. Church or to the Englewood Hospital & Medical Center Foundation.
