Edward V. Kostka, 80, Of Dumont

DUMONT, N.J. -- Edward V. Kostka, of Dumont, died Thursday, Nov. 10. He was 80.

He is survived by his wife, Maureen; children, Edward A., Kevin, John and his wife Suzanne, and Tracy Ann; and grandchildren, Lexi, Edward V., Ashley Bussian and her husband Tom, Jimmy, Michelle, Eric and Mia. 

He was born Oct. 30, 1936, in New York City to Mildred (nee Tracy) and Edward A. Kostka and was employed as a dispatcher and truck driver for Plymouth Rock Transportation Company of Jersey City. He was a member of the National Guard and a devout parishioner and usher at St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Dumont. He also was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus St. John Council #1345 and had many positions, especially that of financial secretary. He was a leader of the Boy Scouts Troop #65 & #265, and was an avid scuba diver and photographer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 280 Washington Ave., Dumont. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Ave., Dumont.
