A wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is expected to begin Monday night across the region and last into Tuesday. The advisory will run from 8 p.m. through 6 p.m.
Weather officials are alerting residents to be ready for slippery roadways and sidewalks, with the main threat being to elevated surfaces and higher elevations.
Weather conditions should improve by Tuesday afternoon with high temperatures climbing into the 40s.
Rain could return on Wednesday afternoon with temperatures in the low 50s.
New Year's Eve will be more of the same with temperatures in the 50s during the day and lows in the 30s as the New Year approaches.
New Year's Day will be sunny with a high in the mid-40s.
