BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. -- Tropical Storm Joaquin was upgraded to a category 1 hurricane on Wednesday morning, making it the third hurricane of the 2015 season, according to weather.com.

The storm currently sits to the east of the Bahamas in the Atlantic and some forecast models suggest the storm could crawl up the east coast and make landfall anywhere between North Carolina and Maine. Other forecast models have the storm making a turn away from the coast and heading out to sea. The possible path of Joaquin remains uncertain at this time, weather.com reported.
