Dumont, Tenafly Advocates Unite To Save Abused Yorkie

DUMONT, N.J. -- A Dumont pet spa owner and the operator of a pet resque organization in Tenafly have teamed up to help an abused Yorkie whose Brooklyn owners kept her in a cage for 7 months, breaking three of her legs.

"Together, we're going to get Ginger the help she needs and make sure those owners are punished accordingly for their horrific behavior," said Lisa Pagnozzi of Leonia, who opened Somethin' To Wag about Pet Spa & Boutique on East Madison Avenue in October.

Pagnozzi said she and Robyn Urman of Pet Pet ResQ Inc. took up Ginger's cause after hearing that she'd been locked up after the owners had a fifth child.

"Ginger has two broken front legs and a broken back leg from being confined in a small space for such a long period of time," she told Daily Voice on Monday.

Ginger was in critical condition at Yonkers Specialty Center and on Sunday was removed form IV, Pagnozzi said.

Animal cruelty charges were being sought, she said.

Meanwhile, Pagnozzi's boutique is offering a donation to Pet ResQ for every dog groomed there in December.

"My vision with Somethin' To Wag About wasn't only to make money doing what I love but to raise money and help animals in foster care before they find their forever homes," she told Daily Voice.
