PATERSON, N.J. — Johanna Garcia Jerez of Paterson died Thursday after her second battle with cancer.
Jerez leaves behind her two children, Kayla, 11, and Marcus, 7, along with a host of friends, family members and loved ones.
She was diagnosed with cervical cancer two years ago and beat it July 2016. The following October, it returned. She went through six rounds of chemo and surgery was not an option.
More than $3,000 had been raised as of Friday evening on a GoFundMe page launched by Jerez' friend, Rhinesca Desimone.
Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 14, from 5 to 9 p.m., and Aug. 15, from from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., at Alvarez Funeral Home in Passaic.
