Dr. Benderson is highly skilled in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of ocular diseases and disorders and has extensive experience performing cataract surgery. In fact, he and his former partner were the first eye surgeons in southern Maryland to perform LenSX laser-assisted cataract surgery.

“I am excited for this opportunity to join Valley Medical Group, where my patients will have access to comprehensive medical and surgical care across all specialties,” says Dr. Benderson. “Valley has made a significant investment in state-of-the-art technology in ophthalmic diagnostics and surgery, which allows us to provide the highest level of medical and surgical care.”

“We strive to provide individualized care and enjoy getting to know our patients and their unique visual needs,” adds Dr. Benderson. “The most rewarding part of my job is sharing in the joy of a patient whose vision has been restored following cataract surgery. It never gets old.”

A native of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Dr. Benderson is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Penn State University. As an undergraduate, he served as a White House intern in the Office of Public Liaison. He received his medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine, and he completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. Throughout medical school and residency, he was involved in research that was published in peer-review journals and presented at international conferences. He was voted “Best Ophthalmologist” by readers of the Annapolis Capital newspaper.

Dr. Benderson has assumed the practices of retiring Valley ophthalmologists Dr. Boyd Seidenberg and Dr. Edward Solomon which were merged into Valley Medical Group. Dr. Benderson’s new office is located at 44 Godwin Avenue, Suite 201, in Midland Park.

The office also includes an optical store (formerly “Ophthalmic Dispensers of Ridgewood”), featuring a wide variety of prescription eyeglasses, contact lenses, and sunglasses. Dr. Benderson treats adults of all ages, children over age 5, and teenagers and is conversational in Spanish.
