To qualify for the three-year accreditation, metabolic and bariatric surgery programs are required to meet an array of program standards including providing bariatric surgical patients with a multidisciplinary program and improving patient outcomes and long-term success. Accredited centers offer preoperative and postoperative care designed specifically for their severely obese patients.
“We are thrilled that we have received Full Accreditation as a Comprehensive Center,” said Dr. Melissa Bagloo, Medical Director of Valley’s Center for Metabolic Surgery and Weight-Loss Management. “This recognition acknowledges our demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and patient safety efforts for metabolic and bariatric surgery patients.”
Centers seeking accreditation are required to undergo an extensive site visit by an experienced bariatric surgeon, who reviews the center's structure, process and clinical outcomes data. Centers are awarded a specific designation depending on patients served annually and procedures offered.
In addition to the program’s accreditation, Dr. Bagloo and bariatric surgeon Dr. Vadim Gritsus were also recognized as MBSAQIP Verified Surgeons for The Valley Hospital.
