The Valley Hospital Unveils Plans For New 'Health Hub' In Mahwah

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- For Bergen residents looking to break a sweat under the guidance of medical professionals, Valley Health System's innovative health and wellness center in Mahwah offers the unique opportunity to do so.

The Valley Center for Health and Wellness will promote the next generation of healthcare delivery by focusing on improving the health of the community and keeping patients healthy and out of the hospital. Much more than a gym, the new facility will serve as a convenient “health hub” for the community.

“Valley recognizes that wellness and prevention are keys to good health – that is why we have created our Center for Health and Wellness,” said Audrey Meyers, President and CEO of Valley Health System and The Valley Hospital. "This innovative health and wellness center will help bring together a wide range of clinical and retail-oriented health services in an effort to significantly improve the health of our community.”

“We are thrilled to welcome the Valley Center for Health and Wellness to Mahwah,” said Mahwah Mayor William Laforet. “With this facility, Valley brings a real crown jewel to our town. There really is nothing like it in the area.”

The Valley Center for Health and Wellness will be a 75,906 square-foot building located at 1400 MacArthur Blvd in Mahwah and will feature a variety of amenities. These include a fitness floor with a gymnasium; an aquatics area with a six-lane lap pool, a leisure/play pool and a warm water therapy pool; a running track; an area with free weights and group exercise rooms.

The remaining space will be used for a range of health and wellness services including health screenings, a diagnostics laboratory, physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, occupational therapy, The Valley Hospital Sports Institute, urgent care/physician offices, community health programs and services, retail pharmacy, retail food, child care services for patients and clients, and conference space.

The Center will be an integrated healthcare facility staffed with qualified professionals that will incorporate medical oversight into the fitness floor for those individuals who do not want to join a traditional health club or for whom a health club may not be appropriate

The building is anticipated to break ground in the summer of 2016 and open in the fall of 2017.
