Valley's trained staff helps patients navigate the process through every step, from psychological testing and support to medical screenings, drawing up legal contracts and designing a financial plan.
“I coordinate the care between the intended parent or parents and the gestational carrier,” said Carol Zollinger, R.N., B.S.N., Clinical Supervisor. She ensures everyone understands what to expect during this personal and emotional time, and makes sure that the match between people is compatible for everyone. “Our patients have been through so much by the time they come to us, we want them to feel very comfortable, cared for and safe.”
The success of The Valley Hospital’s Gestational Carrier Program is built on the Fertility Center’s superior pregnancy rates with transferring a single embryo into the gestational carrier, rather than the patient having to undergo multiple embryo transfers to get pregnant.
“By testing the genetics of the embryo for any inherited diseases or common chromosomal abnormalities to ensure we have a normal embryo, on average, better than two out of three women become pregnant,” said Medical Director Ali Nasseri, M.D., Ph.D.
“For those with a medical condition or whose body can’t support a pregnancy,” Dr. Nasseri said, “we have the latest technology and expertise in testing embryos and placing them in a carrier with great success to give singles and couples a baby.”
