Valley has also received the following noteworthy distinctions for 2016:
- Five-Star Recipient for Pacemaker Procedures
- Orthopedic Surgery Excellence Award for (3 years in a row)
- Joint Replacement Excellence Award (3 years in a row)
- Vascular Surgery Excellence Award
The achievement is part of findings released today online and in the Healthgrades 2016 Report to the Nation, which demonstrates how clinical care continues to differ dramatically between hospitals both nationally and regionally, and how this variation in care may have a significant impact on health outcomes. Valley’s superior ratings indicate that their clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected when treating the condition or conducting the procedure being evaluated.
“I am very proud that Valley has received these distinguished recognitions,” said Audrey Meyers, President and CEO of The Valley Hospital and Valley Health System. “We understand that patients today have options when it comes to choosing a healthcare provider and it is our goal to be the hospital of choice for the communities we serve. These outstanding recognitions are testament to the priority Valley staff and physicians place on achieving the highest-quality clinical outcomes, while delivering the most compassionate care.”
Valley also holds the following 2015 distinctions from Healthgrades:
- Outstanding Patient Experience Award
- Patient Safety Excellence Award
For its 2016 Report, Healthgrades evaluated approximately 40 million Medicare-patient records for nearly 4,500 short-term, acute-care hospitals nationwide, assessing hospital performance relative to each of 33 common conditions and procedures. Healthgrades recognizes a hospital’s quality achievements for cohort-specific performance, specialty area performance, and overall clinical quality. Individual procedure or condition cohorts are designated as 5-star (statistically better than expected), 3-star (not statistically different from expected) and 1-star (statistically significantly worse than expected) categories.
