The Valley Pain Management Center’s physicians provide a multidisciplinary approach for treating pain that results from conditions such as arthritis, back, neck, or knee problems, shingles, and a myriad of other illnesses.  They provide inpatient care at The Valley Hospital. Outpatient services and procedures take place at the center’s state-of-the-art facility in Valley’s Robert and Audrey Luckow Pavilion in Paramus.

Around-the-clock coverage for pain management services is available. Medical Director and Anesthesiologist Robert Silverman, Internist and Addiction Medicine Specialist Robin J. Iversen, and Physiatrist Fani J. Thomson., are all board-certified in their specialties. Drs. Silverman and Thomson are also board-certified in interventional pain management. Dr. Iversen is also board-certified in palliative and hospice medicine, and she is a medical acupuncturist.

“We work together to develop an individualized pain care plan for each patient, offering options to provide pain relief and management for both chronic and acute pain,” says Dr. Silverman.

  • Among the fluoroscopic-guided modalities they utilize are:
  • Spinal injections, including epidural and facet joint, of the neck and back
  • Major joint injections
  • Radiofrequency ablation
  • Complex modalities, such as spinal cord stimulation

The physicians also administer nerve conduction studies, EMGs, drug screenings, toxicology tests, and other services. They also participate in the Prescription Monitoring Programs in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut.

All health insurance plans that are accepted by Valley Medical Group are now accepted at the Valley Pain Management Center. The center is also extending appointment hours. In addition to weekday hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., the center will be open one night each week and Saturday mornings.
