BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- From burgers to bagels, Bergenfield outranks the food competition. At least, according to Bergen residents.

The town is the winner of three food contests within the past year.

First, Bergenfield’s “Rony’s Rockin’ Grill,” won the “DVlicious” a for award for “Best Burger in Bergen County 2017” and “Best Fries in Bergen County 2016.” Readers of Daily Voice voted for their favorite out of five finalists.

In 2015, Rony’s was also awarded 201 Magazine Editor’s Pick for “Favorite Greasy Guilty Pleasure.”

The secret to these top notch food items is in the preparation of each component, said Rony Alvarado, the eatery's owner. He prides himself on making everything by hand.

“I love having my restaurant in Bergenfield because the town is a family-oriented environment where everyone knows each other,” he said.

“Due to our fun rock n’ roll themed interior and live entertainment, Rony’s has become the local hangout where the residents of Bergenfield are able to enjoy meals together and have fun.”

Bergenfield was also ranked Number 49 out of 230 bagel shops in the state by lendedu.com for “Top New Jersey Towns for Bagel Lovers.” To determine the winners, a town was divided by the population, thus creating “The Bagel Density Index.”

“We are thrilled to be recognized for the hard work of our local restaurants and businesses,” said Stuart Z. Koperweis, Bergenfield Special Improvement District’s Executive Director.

“This is one example how as a community we strive together to deliver a great experience for all; we look forward to continuing to excel.”
